What Is The Church Of Christ?

We are Christians only (Acts 11:26). The Bible is our sole authority. The Bible is taught in our classes and from our pulpit each time we assemble. We accept the challenge of producing book, chapter, and verse for everything we teach and do. All things are done decently and in an orderly fashion (I Corinthians 14:40). We assemble on the first day of every week to worship God as the first century Christians did. (Hebrews 10:25).

  • Prayer is an important part of our worship.
"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." -- Acts 2:42
    "Pray without ceasing." -- I Thessalonians 5:17
  • Our singing is without instrumental accompaniment.
"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; -- Ephesians 5:19
  • The Lord's Supper is observed each Sunday.
"And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight." -- Acts 20:7
  • Each member supports the work of the church by returning to the Lord a portion of what they have prospered.
"Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come." -- I Corinthians 16:1,2
  • We preach the Bible, the fully inspired word of God, and the answer to today's problems.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." -- II Timothy 3:16,17

What Is God's Plan Of Salvation?

  1. The gospel must be heard.
Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
John 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
  2. The gospel must be believed.
John 8:24 "I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins."
Mark 16:16 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. "
  3. Sins must be repented of.
Luke 13:3,5 "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
  4. Christ must be confessed.
Matthew 10:32 "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven."
Romans 10:9,10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
  5. There must be baptism (immersion) for the remission of sins.
Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
1 Peter 3:21 "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:"
  6. There must be Christian growth and faithfulness.
1 Peter 2:2 "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:"
2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen."
Revelation 2:10 "Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life."
